Supplies you will need:

A heart – shape

Optional: the plug-in Eye Candy 4000/Bevel

1. The body:

New image 500 x 500 pixel

Preset shapes – ellipse – stroke 0 – background yellow or a color of your choice

Draw a circle – convert to raster layer

Effects – geometric effects – skew (vertical, transparent, 18)

Image – rotate – free – left – 37

Change the background color into black – shape – rectangle – and draw the following rectangles

Convert to raster layer

Activate the layer with the body – selections/select all – selections/float – selections/ defloat – selections/invert selection

Activate the layer with the rectangles and hit the delete key

Merge/merge visible

Effects/ 3D effects/cutout

Selections/select none

If you want you may use the lighten/darken tool at the borders of the body.

Selections/select all – selections/float – selections/defloat

Selections/modify/contract – 2 pixels – selections/modify/smooth – standard settings

Selections/invert selection

Hit the delete key

Selections/select none

2. The head:

Background color – black (I used yellow, because it looks better for me) – preset shapes/ellipse – draw the head of the bee

Convert to raster layer

if you used black: effects/plug-ins/Eye Candy 5 Impact/Bevel – settings: Rounded Corners

if you used a color: selections/select all – selections/float – use the same cutout effect as before

Selections/select none

Activate the pen tool/ foreground - black/ background – none/ stroke as you like and draw a feeler

If it’s like you love it – convert to raster layer

Arrange – below the head (you can set it on the top of the head too) – duplicate/mirror – flip

Arrange the layers

If you left the feelers at the top of the head – activate the head layer – paint brush tool – opacity 32 – color = black – paint small shadows under the feelers.

Activate the feelers layer – retouch/soften opacity =53 Make the ends of the feelers at the head side a little bit softer.

Preset shapes/ ellipse – foreground color = none – background color = black (Used yellow again) – draw a small circle.

Convert to raster layer

Selections/select all – selections/float

Effects/3D effects/cutout

Duplicate and arrange both layers on the feelers.

3. The wings:

Preset shapes and look for a heart shape.

Color is a light yellow or one of your choices.

Draw a small heart.

Right mouse click on the layer palette - convert to raster layer.

Lighten/darken tool – paint some shadows on the wing.

Image – rotate – free – right – 88.

Layers – send it to the bottom

You can deform your wing with the deformation tool.

Opacity = 46

Duplicate and mirror/flip.

Now it should looks like this:

X-out your background layer and merge/merge visible.

4. The rest:

Preset shape/ triangle – color black – draw a small triangle.

Convert to raster layer.

Drag it to the bottom of the body and arrange this layer at the bottom.

Draw two small circles for the eyes and use the pen tool for the mouth.

Merge/ merge visible.

That’s was. Hope I explained it fairly understandable.
